STANDARDS

     There have been various attempts to standardize the set of binary
     prefixes.  Organizations such as International Electrotechnical
     Commission (IEC) have proposed new prefixes such as ``kibi'', ``mebi'',
     ``gibi'', and ``yobi'', but the adoption has been slow at best.
