NAME

pkgsrc -- NetBSD packages collection (framework for third-party software)

DESCRIPTION

The NetBSD Packages Collection (pkgsrc) is a framework for building and maintaining third-party software on NetBSD, DragonFly and other UNIX-like systems. It is used to enable freely available software to be configured and built easily on supported platforms. Tools are available to install ready-to-use packages and to perform vari- ous administrative tasks for the package system. For building packages from source, /usr/Makefile offers a number of tar- gets to checkout and update the pkgsrc and pkgsrc-wip trees. `cd /usr; make help' gives a quick overview. Note that due to compatibility issues bmake(1) has to be used instead of make(1) for pkgsrc related tasks.
